Still In Wine Country

To quote that anonymous wit, "Spring has sprung."



The Poppies are blooming and I took advantage of their bright glory to take a couple of photographs.

A close up through the fence resulted in this picture. Since I am no longer very mobile, I had to take most of my photos from the car.



What is the name of these yellow beauties? I do not have a clue but they are abundant.



The girl riding this beautiful horse was hard to catch because she was far away and moving right along. I did the best I could to rapidly focus the camera before she vanished.

I think I should title this series of photographs of my trips by Episodes. This will be Episode IV. Episode V will continue tomorrow.

A Re-run Issue

Since I am doing a continuation of one subject I decided to augment a previous post I wrote on humor. I recently got the following two jokes (?) by e-mail and it occurred to me that they illustrated a point I tried to make about types of humor.

The first photo is very unflattering to both women and I do not think the person who wrote it meant it to be a compliment to strong women. As I understood it, the intent was to portray Bill and Barack as weak men who were manipulated by domineering wives. Rush Limbaugh would probably laugh hysterically at it.

The last joke doesn't have a barb in it and I found it to be very funny. Good humor.

An Event and More of Wine Country

Now It Can Be Told

Before I continue with the tour of wine country I have an exciting event to relate. Yesterdays visitor's were a lovely couple from Oregon who most of you will recognize. This was my first time to meet with a fellow blogger. I was thrilled that it was Rain of Rainy Day Thoughts and her husband, Paul. Rain is even more beautiful in person than in her photos. (If that's possible.)

Rain and Paul are a very nice couple and you would all love to know them. I felt so honored that they took the time from their busy schedule to stop by to meet me. What a great way to start a day.

And now to continue with the wine country tour. The three buildings are all wineries with tasting rooms. Most of the wineries are only open on weekends or by appointment, but Gail and I were lucky to find one open where we sampled four wines. None were memorable, unfortunately. The winery we visited is the middle photo.








This lovely hillside was at the end of the Valley . I have three different photos of it, but chose this one to show you.

Wine Country

Today I am posting photos of the wine country outside of Livermore. As you can see, it is an area of rolling hills filled with grape vineyards. I have no idea how many wineries are operating, but it seems to me that it is beginning to rival Napa Valley.



I thought this old barn was interesting. A wet winter has produced the green hills. The thought that came to me as I viewed them was the book title, "How Green Was My Valley."
