More Reasons

For now I will leave the posts on Paulson and Bernanke to those who are more knowledgeable than I. I do want to make a few comments on other subjects.

While others are covering the economy, and doing it very well, I just found another reason a McCain presidency would be a total disaster. It is diplomacy, or lack thereof.

Remember Bush making the absurd statement, "You are either for us or against us." And we know how that turned out -- with the exception of Tony Blair most countries were against us. Now McCain is proudly claiming that he will continue this idiotic policy. Did you notice that Palin is only meeting with the heads of friendly nations? She will meet with close allies of Colombia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Afghanistan.

I may not be the brightest bulb, but even I know that you must meet with unfriendly nations if anything is to be accomplished. It reminds me of what my late husband used to call a "Mother-in-law survey." If you poll 'like thinking' friends you will get the results you want. You need to poll a mixture of ages, demographics, and cultures to get a true reading.

It's a small world after all, to quote Disney, and McCain's policy is antediluvian and simply won't work in today's shrinking world.

While the world is focused on the economy a related issue is being shoved into the background. Privatization is one of the biggest factors causing the economic meltdown and I am including the link to a video by Keith Olbermann regarding John McCain's stand on Health Care. He would like to do to health care what he helped do to the investment community. Beware!

Please take the time to watch it. Keith nails it.

Welcome Back! Your camera story reminded me of a trip we took to Costa Rica many years ago.

An ex-pat German picked us up in San Jose to take us to his finca and we stopped along the way because he had something to show us.

We hiked a short ways down a rough path, emerging at this beautiful waterfall with huge Blue Morpho butterflies flitting everywhere.

I was disappointed that I didn't have my camera, and Wolfgang tsk-tsk'd and point to the side of his head.

He said "this" meaning the brain, is the best camera of all. He continuted by saying, spend more time absorbing what you experience rather than seeing it through the lens of a camera.

His advice worked for awhile and I do try to be more aware, but like you I also like to get good pictures to remind me when my mind starts to forget.

Glad you had a good time in my state, Colorado!

Can you imagine hot-head McCain in the White House with his finger on the H-bomb button if, for example, Russia tried to reclaim Crimea from Ukraine? As for Palin, I doubt whether she knows where Crimea and Ukraine are. I mention Crimea and Ukraine because that is a potential crisis situation.

My comment wound up under the wrong post.

Gyma, I once had a fellow traveler ask me if I would remember what I saw because I was busy making a video and still photos all the time. Now I wouldn't take a fortune for those photos because they bring back memories I would have forgotten.

Colorado is my state also as I was born and spent the first 36 years of my life there.

Mort. Your comment is on the right post. You are, as always, right. But Palin does know where Russia is. ;-) Thank you for the comment.

Great link to YouTube, Darlene. Thanks.

If voters concentrated on nothing else but the candidates' intentions re Health Care, they would surely see where their best interests lie.
