A Sweet Award and Spring

Joy, who writes the wonderful blog,
The Joy of Six , gave me this award. I am so honored by getting an award from Joy because she is the sweetest person. She writes about her wonderful family and often has funny jokes or photos to share. Even when Joy writes about sad times, her natural optimism shines through.

Joy's blog is always inspiring. Thank you so much for the award, Joy.

The simple rules that come with this award are:

  1. When you receive this award, you must thank the person that awarded you in a new post.

  1. Name 10 things that make you happy.

  1. Pass this award on to 10 other bloggers who make you happy.

So many things make me happy so I will just brainstorm and put some of them down as they come to mind.

  • Being alive.
  • Having good health for a woman my age.
  • Modern devices to aid me; a cochlear implant to help me hear and a steel hip to help me walk.
  • Watching a good movie.
  • Writing and reading blogs.
  • Curling up with a good book on a rainy day.
  • Going out to lunch with a friend.
  • Having a comfortable home that is paid for.
  • My family.
  • Holding a baby.
  • Visiting my daughter and granddaughters.
  • My good friends; both in person and in cyberspace.
Okay, that's twelve. I got carried away. So sue me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Joy said, here's the hard part. Choosing ten people to pass this award on to. I will have a difficult time with that because I want to send it to all of my blog friends. But here are the ones I have selected.
Evelyn of Cop Car's Beat
Suranga of Gappa
Rain of Rainy Day Thoughts
Mary Ellen of Xtreme English
Sylvia of Sylvia From Over the Hill
Beverly of Beverly, Use Your Words
Anne of 20th Century Woman
Kay of Kay's Thinking Cap
Betty of A Piece of My Mind
Millie of My Mom's Blog
Some of those I selected may not want to participate and that's okay. Just know that I enjoy your blogs and think they are worthy of being noticed.
The following photos are of the first sign of Spring in my yard. The vine is on the wall of my kitchen patio. These white flowers appear in the Spring but disappear when the weather turns hot. They don't come back until the next Spring. I don't have a clue as to what they are. Can anyone help me with this?
What am I?
You had to be on my list Darlene...I enjoy your blog so much...it keeps me informed, amused, and you always make me smile and laugh. That's pretty important criteria for me.
I'm not going to sue you for picking more blogs; I should have done that...you picked some great ones.
Happy Weekend dear friend... Love, Joy
And oh yeah, you deserve the award and I loved your comment on my blog today. I'm not a hero -- just committed to try to do the right thing. And John is such a good man. I think our district will be a battleground.
*Looking to the Stars - Thank you for noticing that I updated my pic. The old one was nearly 4 years old and I thought it was time to update.
"Joy Des Jardins - Thank you again, Joy.
*Kay Dennison - I am avoiding to local TV. It was mentioned on National TV so guess there is no way to avoid it. It didn't make my day.
I think we run in the same circles so duplication was unavoidable. You deserve the Sweet Friend award as does Rain.
*Beverly - You are so welcome.
What a well deserved award for you and your blog, Darlene. You are such a caring person and thank you for including me in your list. I think the idea of coming up with things that make us happy is a really healthy one and I will definitely take some time with that one where I can let stream of consciousness do for me what it did for you. The photo of that flower on your patio made me happy for a starter right here. I also like your new photo, like your hair loose and free looking.
Thank you so much Darlene, for the award. I have to confess that I would love to put it on my blog, but I haven't a clue how to do it. My British daughter set up the blog for me, and until she comes back and does stuff to it it just has to stay the way it is. I'm lucky I can figure out how to post and put pictures up.
I, too love the new photo of you.
The flowers look like some kind of jasmine. Do they have a lovely scent?
You certainly deserve that award!! You write with warmth, humor and you tell it the way it is.
Thanks so much for including me with all those other award winners.
I won't be able to participate since I'm in the throws of packing and will be pulling the plug on my computer in the next few days and returning my rented modem.
Love that new picture of you. Beautiful lady!
*Rain - Thank you for your kind words. I don't like having to mess with my hair, but other than that I think it is probably a good style for me.
*20th Century Woman - I wish we were closer and I could help you post the award. If you have blog spot please e-mail me and I will give you instructions.
*Millie - You are too kind. I don't think beautiful describes me, but it's so nice to hear. That picture was taken by Nana Royer when she visited me. She posted it on her web site and I filched it.
Have a safe and pleasant journey home.
Add my congratulations to the other, Darlene, and I also love your new photo. You look great. I have no idea what those flowers are but I am glad you posted them, they sooth my soul. Looking forward to the flowers blooming here soon.
Darlene said...
*la peregrina - I think I know what the flowers are now. They are a type of Jasmine. I have Jasmine in the back patio and it isn't blooming yet and the leaves are different. It is very fragrant, but the scent of the one pictured is so faint that I had to put the blossoms to my nose to smell it. It does smell like Jasmine.
As noted above, Nana took the photo when she was here visiting. I thought it was time for an update.
