New Year's

I certainly stretched that birthday card blog out lone enough, didn't I?    As usual, I have a valid excuse.   Saturday my phone went out and that meant that I didn't have my computer or medical alarm functioning.  I thought it might be an area problem and waited to see if it was fixed.  No luck!   The problem was that I changed providers in December and Quest disconnected my phone when the amount I had prepaid expired.  Cox had not set me up for the phone (although they sure billed me for it).    I just now got back on line.

I tell you, this technological age is turning my hair white. (Something must be doing it.)

The nice techie just left after spending a lot of time finding and fixing the problem.  He took time to check everything out because I am sure he didn't want to come back.  And I sure didn't want a repeat of this weekend.

Now I can finish with the photos from my trip.  Moving on to New Year's Eve here are a select few of the final pictures I took.

Gail gives a fondue party every New Years Eve.  We had three generations present.  The little guys were in the family room, the teenagers took over the kitchen and the rest of us gathered around the dining room table.

After a few glasses of the bubbly those crazy glasses don't look so weird.

First we had tender beef cuts, new potatoes and mushrooms to dip in the fondue pots followed by desert fondue.  Fruits and marshmallows were a hit with the younger set.
It's pretty obvious that these guys are enjoying the desert part of the fondue party.

The animals were not left out.  Mark loves his two dogs and this one is Sugar.  I would name her brown sugar, or perhaps burned sugar.  She is so well trained and sweet. she deserves the name.  His other dog is the same size, but black.  They complement each other.

Gail has allowed the girls to add to the menagerie with two Peruvian Guinea Pigs and this sweet little miniature rabbit named Coco.  I spent a lot of time with Coco in my lap petting her.  Her fur is softer than velvet.

The last day of my trip my oldest daughter, Lynne, drove down to spend the day with us.  And here are my three kids enjoying lots of laughs. And thus endeth my adventure.

Sounds like a beautiful ending of 2009 and beginning of 2010 to me!

The tech providers sure need to get their act together. Good grief!

Nice photos and wonderful that you could all be together.

We had a technological glitch too with our satellite tv because we had unplugged the whole thing when we were gone a month. They turned us off but kept right on billing (of course). They claimed they did it for our protection-- not sure I know how that worked but it took many hours on the phone to get the service back to what it had been before they did it to help us....

A fun party! The only time I've had fondue was in Zurich, and it was good, but the restaurant smelled too cheesy for me! Phew!

I am so happy for you and yes, it was a perfect way to start the New Year. I had a 4 and 7 year old and Miss Callie - the dog!!!!

*Peruby - So nice of you to visit. I do hope you will return.

I certainly agree with your last comment.

*Rain - Isn't it frustrating? It makes me want to tear my white hair out by the roots.

*Kenju - That's why they call it cheese fondue. Tee Hee.

*Tabor - They were happy that day with lots of laughs.

*One Woman's Journey - It sounds like you had a good start, too, with your two pretty granddaughters and your sweet new companion.

What a nice New Year's Eve Darlene...and I just love fondue. How nice to have all three of your kids there with you...perfect ending to your trip.

I hope this is the end of your techie computer problems for a long while sweetie....I swear they never end. I had another virus last week; but my boss...and great friend Denise ran over here and miraculously got it off of my computer. Right now however my computer is a little sluggish, I'm not sure why...the internet has been acting up a little for me lately...good grief. Love, Joy

*JoyDes Jardins - It was the pefect ending. When my three get together it's a laugh a minute and you can't have too many of those.

Glad you got rid of the virus. I am comtemplating buying a laptop for a backup so I won't be without a P. C. again.

*20th Century Woman - Thank you for agreeing with me. ;_)

It looks/sounds like you had an excellent trip. And I'm so glad you got your tech stuff solved. I (finally) got a hassle with that straightened out so I understand your frustration!

I was wondering where you were! Glad to see you got everything fixed :)

I love the pics, Coco is my favorite. Sounds like a wonderful time. Your daughters sound like neat people. Of course they have to be, they have a neat mother :)

You had quite an adventure – getting off at the wrong airport, visiting Union Square and eating fondue – sounds exciting to me. You certainly had a great time.

I used to love fondue. I'm so glad it's coming back. Most things do.....eventually.

*Kay Dennison - Hassles are maddening, aren't they?

*Looking to the Stars - Thank you. Coco was so sweet.

*Vagabonde - Yes, it was fun.

*Rinkly Rimes - As they say, "There's nothing new under the sun."

did you have to start telling me about the glorious food you were eating just when I've decided to live a little more frugally?

You clearly had a great time with the family, is being back home any good?

Darlene said...

*Friko - Being back home is always good. There's not place like home.

As to the food issue - turn about is fair play; seems I remember reading about some luscious yummys on your blog.
