Fight Back

Lets keep the enthusiasm going.  Wisconsin is showing the way.  We must take this opportunity to take back our government from the greedy corporations and their handmaidens.   Let them know that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore.

It's time to rally in every state; in every city, town or hamlet; and in every neighborhood.  Are you ready to fight for your rights?  Spread the word when there is a rally in your community and take your friends and neighbors.  If you are not physically able to attend, call your friends and neighbors and tell them when and where a rally will be held and encourage them to go in your place.

We must not let the good citizens of Wisconsin down.  They stood out in the freezing cold day after day to show that they were not going to take it anymore.  And they are not stopping. They are withdrawing their money from a bank that backed the governor.  Hitting the corporations in their pocketbook is the best way to get their attention.  Where does your bank stand?  Are you with one of the big banks that break the law right and left and get away with it?  Move your money to a local bank or a credit union.  If everyone did this, the banks would suffer and their outrageous profit line would diminish.  One person cannot do it alone, but multiplied by thousands it can make a real impact.

Let's start a new civil rights movement.  Listen to Dennis Kucinich on this video.

Oh, Darlene, I'll try to keep fighting, but I am getting tired of losing. Do you really think these people can be defeated?

*Anne - How fervently I hope so. If not, we are lost.

You bet I'm fighting and probably won't stop until they plant me!!!!! Dennis the Menace, as we call him here in Ohio, is one of the few true fighters left in Congress. Gotta love him and stand with him!!!!!! I want our new governor recalled.

Something very sick has infected American society and manifests itself in this war on women. Yes, that's what it is for some of us who came from families who fought so hard for union rights and ourselves marched to defend women's right to choose.

Saturday there's a peace march in Portland, Or. and we plan to go for the first time in years. I'm thinking it will mostly be old folks like ourselves. And do we have a platform?

Way to go, Darlene! We've had ENOUGH of this conservative bullcrap, and it's time to let them HAVE it with both fists!

Go Dennis! And thanks, Darlene, for sharing this with us.

*Kay Dennison - I left a response yesterday but it has gone missing so here it is again (I hope.)

I know you are a fighter, Kay, and that you will be the first in line to protest any injustice.

*Naomi Dagen Bloom - My comment to you has gone missing. (What are you doing to me, Google?) I hope this one publishes.

Yes, Naomi, there is a war on women. They want to keep us barefoot and pregnant. Back to the bad old days when men had all the power.

*Jack Jodell - Thank you.

*Xtreme English - Sorry I don't even have a widow's mite so I use my mouth instead of money. But a lot of little 'mites' add up.

*Stimpson - Thank you so much for the visit. I do hope you will return.

A Wisconsin judge issued a temporary restraining order Friday blocking the state's new and contentious collective bargaining law from taking effect...

And the AZ Senate has rejected all 5 of the immigration bills passed by the House.

*tnlib - I did read that this morning. Great news. Thanks for the update.

Darlene,
BTW: I have moved THE SATURDAY AFTERNOON POST over to wordpress.com. Its new address is http://jackjodell53.wordpress.com/. Thanks for your continued patronage, and I hope too see you there again real soon! :-)

*Jack Jodell - I have made the change.

It was very exciting in Wisconsin for a while, but, for the rest of the states, the next huge news event grabbed us and hasn't let go yet. Japan deserves our deepest bow, our most heartfelt sympathy, but, after the donations, we must turn our attention back to conditions we can do something about.

*Nance - You are absolutely right.

We have to keep fighting, if only because it is lousy to give up. But we need to take time out to enjoy life, too. I think a "news break" every once in a while is a good idea.

It takes stamina and perserverence to keep fighting...but I have hope that everyone can continue to do so. There are so many important things on our plates to fight back about. ~Joy

*Joy Des Jardins - So true.

I saw the floor speech Dennis Kucinich gave last week. He spoke of the need to hold GWBush, Dick C and all that herd accountable for their manipulation and lies that got us into Iraq, wasting lives and treasure for greed. Lots of my liberal and conservative pals dismiss him as a nut job. If that is true it is because he is a modern day Don Quixote, tilting at windmills.

I believe in windmill tilting. I believe huge accomplishments are always a product of incessant effort. Complacency is the way of slaves.

*Charlene - Thank you so much for your visit and for your excellent comment. You accurately described Dennis Kucinich. I admire the way that he never gives up.
