Inciting a Riot

"Kill him." "Terrorist" "Treason" "Off with his head"

These, plus racial slurs, are the words heard at a John McCain Rally now. Sarah Palin is whipping up the mob with her lies, distortions and innuendos against Barack Obama. Will someone please explain to me why she isn't being arrested for inciting riot, a Federal Offense? Does an actual riot have to occur before someone takes this threat sriously?

William Ayers was a terrorist, it's true, but that was when Obama was eight years old. Ayers is now a respected Professor at a University. In reality Obama's ties to him are tenuous, at best. There is nothing in the relationship to indicate that Obama had anything but contempt for Ayer's behavior when Obama was a child. To be blunt, Palin is a detestable liar. It's one thing to twist facts the way all politicians do, but quite another to distort them to incur hatred and impugn the other candidates character.

The McCain defenders point out that McCain denounced these false labels by correcting a woman who said Obama was an Arab. We've all seen that video. I am sorry, but that does not give McCain a pass with me. Until he muzzles his surrogates and takes Palin with her smiles and winks off of his ticket, I have to assume he secretly approves of this garbage. If Obama or Biden are killed as a result of inciting this hatred, the guilt will be on McCain's shoulders.

The hypocricy of Palen's false accusations is breathtaking. Her husband, Todd, was, until 2002, a member of AIP. This is an organization founded by Joe Volger who proudly proclaimed that he "had no use for America or her damned institutions." and "the fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government."

Palin attended a AIP convention in 1994 when the AIP called for a draft constitution to secede from the United States. She also attended the 2000 Convention (admitted to by the McCain campaign.) She then agreed to give the keynote speech at the AIP's 2006 convention and she recorded a greeting for this year's convention.

If we want to look at guilt by association, Palin's guilt looms large. She is married to a recent member of a terrorist group. She attended their conventions. She has lied about it. Joe McCarthy must be applauding her form the gave for sheer chutzpah.

I must be a real dolt because I do not understand why the press is minimizing the danger to Obama or why they aren't maximizing the ties Palin has to the AIP.

Fair and balanced reporting? I don't think so.

For another guy who palled around with terrorists click on the link. (Hint: his initials are R. R.)

McCain doesn't want to stop Palin, Darlene. He is using her to scare people; making it look as though he isn't saying that stuff - but she is. I am sure it originated with him and his advisers.

McCain and Palin are scum and worse. this is why i refuse to watch network news (or TV, period), read the NY Times or the WashPost, etc. I'm boycotting them till they start reporting actual news instead of right-wing spin and b.s. from the republican presidential campaign.

readership of newspapers is going down the tubes, but the publishers don't see any connection between the vile crap they're printing and their loss of readers.

i dunno...these are dark times!

McCain is backing off -- check out the video at my blog today.

Of course, Sarah isn't -- once a pit bull is trained to kill, it can't be re-trained. She is too ignorant.

And Good News -- McCain's lead in Ohio dropped from 7 to 2.

Darlene,

In earlier days, people listened to news, which was sometimes biased, and learned.

Today, there are a lot of people like you blogging, writing, discussing, and expressing themselves, and that is bound to make a big difference.

Society listens. Maybe M and P and their Party dont. But hopefully they will learn a lesson in November.

I thought about his mild rebuke to those people and I think it's because the RNC has been talking about not running ads to benefit him but trying to save their other Republican rats. I think that is the total reason he said anything. I have lost whatever respect I might have had for McCain and if he is elected through some racist voting, which is the only way he could be, it will be a hard 4 years for me. especially with Palin to be there constantly riling up the already angry and bigoted

Remember, McCain just stood there and smiled and nodded when that woman said she was afraid of Obama. It was only when she said he was an Arab that McCain took the microphone away. He was content for her to be afraid. No, he gets no pass from me, either. And, Sarah Palin is a disgrace.

I have watched the videos and listened to the hatred. My stomach has churned with disgust over and over at the 'matter-of-fact' attitude McCain and Palin disregard the disasterous effects of their actions AND their misrepresentation of Barack Obama's part in all of this. The fact that they are willing to let it continue riles up a whole host of feelings in me...sadness and anger among them. I am very frightened for Barack and his family. For me.... it has passed disgraceful, and gone beyond anything I could have imagined candidates running for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of America doing....and expecting to win.
